The new WwPS has sufficient storage to reduce the number of emergency overflow spills to tributaries which directly flow to the environmentally sensitive River Roe. Flows are pumped forward using rising mains which connect to existing infrastructure.
Key elements of the project included, detailed design, construction & installation of a new WwPS. Installation of (duty/standby) pumps, a return pumping main and rising main downstream of the pumping station. A full MEICA installation was provided with a novel earthing strategy, MCC, Kiosk and Telemetry.
Decommissioning and demolition of the existing pumping station along with landscaping and tree planting completed the project.
