The Ards North Wastewater Treatment Works comprised the construction, commissioning and testing of a new facility to a design PE of 8500 in the summer months and 4800 in winter months.

The new WwTW includes, Inlet Screening and Grit Plant, Activated Sludge Plant, Return Activated Sludge / Surplus Activated Sludge Pumping Station, Aeration Tanks, Settlement Tanks, Sludge Holding Tank and an Odour control plant. Additional MEICA works included Telemetry and SCADA systems, MCC and PLC Controls. A solar array was placed on the roof of the control building, providing renewable energy to help power the treatment works.
The completed project, rationalised the treatment infrastructure for the surrounding area while ensuring compliance with EU Water Quality Standards.
