BSG were employed by Uisce Éireann to undertake the refurbishment of Carrowroe SR, in Lanesborough, Co. Longford.
Speak to Our TeamThis single cell reservoir was constructed in the early 70’s and was showing signs of structural deterioration and leakage. Due to water storage requirements in the area, BSG designed and installed a temporary arrangement utilising a 200m3 ‘Pillow’ tank to provide the minimum network storage requirement during the repairs to the existing SR.
This was the first time this system was successfully utilised on an Uisce Éireann project. Internal repairs work included resealing and over-banding of joints, grit blasting of surfaces, application of cementitious coatings, and replacement of existing pipework and access ladders. External works involved installation of a new liner and stone covering to the reservoir roof and along with pipework and access improvements. The completed repair works provide an increased lifespan to Carrowroe service reservoir and ensure safe and secure water storage for supply to the local population.
