EDM’s are being installed across NI Water’s wastewater network over a multi-year investment programme, legislation is the pivotal driver.
Speak to Our TeamBy the end of the current Price Control period (PC21) NIW aims to have 900 EDMs operational, providing key reliable information.
EDMs are required at High Amenity/Sensitive Receiving waters, including designated shellfish waters, bathing waters, Special Areas of Conservation, Marine Conservation Zones. The EDM contract provides 3 different types of EDM installations nto storm overflows (SO): wastewater pumping stations (WwPS), SO mains-powered installation and SO battery-powered datalogger installation. Ultrasonic level instrumentation is used as the measurement tool, with the process involving multiple teams across NIW.
The instrumentation records continuously, uploading data every 2 minutes. This provides real-time assets monitoring helping to plan for and prevent environmental spills
