BSG, Councillor Rodney Quigley and NI Water gave local residents the opportunity to visit the site of Toome Road Flood Alleviation Scheme to view progress (Jan 2020)

The £2 million Flood Alleviation Scheme for the Toome Road/Wakehurst Road area of Ballymena will bring major benefits to the area, including reducing the future risk of flooding, as well as increasing the capacity of the existing sewerage system.

The project involves the upgrade of existing sewers and installation of new sewers on Wakehurst Park, Wakehurst Rd, Queen Street and Toome Rd. Construction of a large underground storage tank is also underway on land adjacent to the council playing fields at Wakehurst Rd.
